About Te Oranganui:

Te Oranganui is a health and social service provider based in Whanganui and offers a wide range of services to all people within the Whanganui and neighbouring regions. Free services available include Mental Health & Addictions, Disability Support, Whānau & Community and Healthy Families.

Role:

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our well-established Practice; Te Waipuna Health. This is a full-time permanent position; however, the hours are negotiable. It is expected that you will have experience in all aspects of patient care, able to work autonomously conducting assessments, diagnosing and treating, prescribing medications within your scope of practice. You will be supported by an experienced team of GP’s, practice nurses and non-clinical team. Staff here work very well as a team and there is excellent collegial support.

 

The clinic is located in a lovely well-equipped building with modern facilities. There are around 6000 registered patients across our main Practice and our satellite Practice in Waverley, with a high Māori population. Staff must have a good level of cultural awareness, or be open to learning about different cultures. All new staff will be supported to complete the organisations Whānau Ora training, ensuring there is a consistent understanding of the organisations Whānau Ora approach and goals of improving the health and wellbeing of our population.

 

The clinic is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm weekdays.

Who You Are

Experience & Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse Practitioner with a current practicing certificate

  • Proven assessment skills

  • A minimum of 3 years post registration experience

  • Expert clinical knowledge of acute, complex and chronic care

  • CPR certified

  • High level of facilitation and communication skills

Physical Attributes – Clinician

  • Must be able to function in ever changing and demanding conditions when required.

  • Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate clearly with patients and co-workers, monitor patient status and equipment, recognise impending emergencies relating to

    patients and equipment.

  • Must be physically fit as the work is physically demanding, involving standing, walking,

    sitting, stretching, frequently. (Stature extremes may increase hazard of shared activities).

  • A high level of mental concentration is required.

  • Visual ability to sufficiently read, write/record in a legible manner and operate equipment,

    safely administer medications, monitor equipment and patient status enabling accurate performance of essential job duties

     

Other requirements of this position

  • Current clean, full NZ driver license

  • Must be able to pass Te Oranganui’s background check and worker safety process

  • New Zealand citizenship, permanent resident status, or a NZ work permit.
