Once again Te Oranganui were proud to host their Annual Basketball Tournament which took place on 7-8 September 2019 at the Springvale Stadium in Whanganui.
With an excellent turnout on both days, the first day was filled with fun, laughter and excitement as our Tamariki (4-6 years), Teina (7-9 years) and Tuakana (10-13 years) took to the courts, playing against one another, cheering on their whānau and friends and enjoying all that the day had provided.
Day 2 bought together a large number of rangatahi, pāhake and kaumātua who also took to the courts to play some of the most entertaining and competitive basketball this year. Despite that competition, the weekend was a complete success with all who entered the stadium, whether it be to play or support had an excellent time.
Photos of the Whānau Basketball Tournament are now up on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/teoranganui/photos/?ref=page_internal

Ka Waewae Tātahi o te Awa Tupua 2018]]>https://www.teoranganui.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/08/Ka-waewae-tat%C4%81hi-o-te-awa-tupuahttps://www.teoranganui.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/08/Ka-waewae-tat%C4%81hi-o-te-awa-tupuaWed, 18 Apr 2018 23:18:17 +0000
On Saturday the 7th of April, we had our 3rd annual Ka Waewae Tātahi o te Awa Tupua event. We had 15 teams and 1 individual participating with a total of 150 participants and up to 200 people in attendance on the day.
The Awa Hikoi began at Pipiriki with Terence Matthews responsible for facilitating the warm up. At 7:45am our walking participants made their way down the Whanganui river road where they were greeted by kaimahi and Maori Wardens at each Marae/transition.
Our teams were made up of friends, kuia, koroua, aunties, uncles, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. It was humbling to see participants who wouldn’t normally participate in any physical activity. It is always extra special too see our whānau who travel home to participate in our annual event.
All teams made it to the finish line at Pungarehu where they were greeted by our MC Manahi, kaimahi and our very own Wheturangi (CEO) who had the privilege of congratulating our whanau with medals.
Delicious Health kai was available from Kiriannas stall & Pep was selling “Ka Waewae Tātahi o te Awa Tupua” merchandise for all our whanau.
A huge mihi out to all our participants, kaimahi, maori wardens, downer and all of our sponsors for making this event possible!
