Rangatahi Whanau Practitioner - Rangatahi Health and Wellbeing Initiative
Fixed Term - 40 hours per week

Te Oranganui is a health and social service provider based in Whanganui and offers a wide range of services to all people within the Whanganui and neighboring regions. Free services available include Mental Health & Addictions, Disability Support, Whānau & Community and Healthy Families. Te Oranganui Medical Centre and its associated services such as Tamariki Ora, Rural Community Nurse and the Quit Smoking clinic are also available.


Te Oranganui is seeking a Rangatahi Whānau Practitioner in it's Rangatahi Health & Wellbeing Initiative Team. You will be a positive role model who wants to make a real difference with some of our vulnerable rangatahi. 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have knowledge of Te Taiao and experience with working with the environment to gain positive outcomes for rangatahi 

  • Have knowledge of tikanga a nga iwi o Ngā Rauru, Ngā Wairiki/Ngāti Apa & Te Ātihaunui a Pāpārangi

  • Have the ability to be creative and to think outside the box

  • Have experience in co-design and systems design in order to work alongside rangatahi to find their solutions to their wellness

  • Have at least 2+ years' experience in a role working closely with rangatahi and their whānau

The purpose of the Rangatahi Health & Wellbeing Initiative is to:

  • Build stronger communities and support better outcomes for Rangatahi Māori

  • Integrate a Mātauranga Māori way of working and engaging with Rangatahi Maori which utilises Te Taiao and other Mātauranga Maori knowledge systems

  • Apply iwi-centric knowledge systems to a holistic way of working for Rangatahi Māori

  • Improve opportunities for Rangatahi to actively contribute to their learning and development

  • Increase access and opportunity for Rangatahi Māori to actively manage their health and wellbeing
