Te Oranganui is a health and social service provider based in Whanganui and offers a wide range of services to all people within the Whanganui and neighboring regions. Free services available include Mental Health & Addictions, Disability Support, Whānau & Community and Healthy Families. Te Oranganui Medical Centre and its associated services such as Tamariki Ora, Rural Community Nurse and the Quit Smoking clinic are also available. 

Te Oranganui delivers the kaupapa Māori drug treatment programme (DTP) based in the Te Tirohanga Whare of the Whanganui Prison. This programme focuses on helping participants make positive changes in their lives.

Te Oranganui has a vacancy for a Facilitator to support the team to implement the Drug Treatment Programme which includes assessments, goal planning and reviews as well as facilitating group work, using different treatment approaches. 


It is essential that you believe in people’s ability to change and would be comfortable working in a prison environment.  Your communication must be effective with all people in all settings.


A clinical qualification and relevant practicing certificate that meets the requirements under the Health Practitioners’ Assurance Act 2003, is required along with an AoD qualification or AoD experience while working towards a qualification that would lead to dappanz registration or equivalent.
