Te Oranganui is an iwi led organisation that was established in 1993 to improve access and service delivery of health services to Māori in the Whanganui region.  Over time the roles and functions have grown and the organisation now delivers a range of health and social services throughout the region to Māori and non-Māori Whānau. 


Waiora Hinengaro (Mental Health and Addiction Services) has a vacancy for a mental health support worker who will support the recovery and wellness journeys of tangata whai ora with mental health and alcohol and other drug issues. The work will include nurturing the fundamental values of Tikanga Māori and be based at Te Whare Mahana, the residential service.


The ideal applicant will have a passion for the health and wellbeing of people, be committed to providing the best possible care. Understanding the application of whare tapa whā in your work and effective communication is a must. You will work with tangata whai ora on normal household activities like cooking and daily activity needs as well as maintenance and cleaning of the whare.


A NZQA Level 4 Certificate in mental health or alcohol and drug work is desired or the commitment to do a qualification is required.  You must be computer literate and have a full drivers license. This role would cover leave on rostered and rotating positions where the roster covers a 24 hour roster including weekends.
