Waiora Hinengaro (Vocations, Mental Health and Addiction Services) has a vacancy for a mental health support worker who will support the recovery and wellness journeys of tangata whai ora with mental health and alcohol and other drug issues. The work will include nurturing the fundamental values of Tikanga Māori.
The ideal applicant will have a passion for the health and wellbeing of people, be committed to providing the best possible care and work very well with others. Understanding the application of whare tapa whā in your work and effective communication is a must. You will work with tangata whai ora on normal household activities like cooking and daily activity needs as well as maintenance and cleaning of the whare.
A NZQA Level 4 Certificate in mental health or alcohol and drug work is desired or the commitment to complete a qualification is required. You must be computer literate and have a full driver’s license.
The role is a rostered and rotating position where the roster covers after hours from 3.30pm to 8.30am, Monday to Friday and full weekends.
