Te Oranganui Trust is an iwi organisation established in 1993 to improve access and service delivery of health services to Māori in the wider Whanganui region. Over time the roles and functions of the organisation have grown and the organisation now delivers a wide range of health and social services to all people throughout the Whanganui and neighbouring regions.

About you

As our People and Performance Administrator, you’ll be working alongside our team of professionals to successfully deliver People and Performance services across our organisation. Your role will have a specific focus on end-to-end payroll administration, recruitment and on-boarding. You’ll be able to build relationships with potential staff, and those who already work within the wider whanau of Te Oranganui. You’ll also be super organised and have fantastic attention to detail.


The key accountabilities for this role are:

  • Using Datapay payroll systems to manage payroll functions on a weekly basis

  • Being able to process payroll for staff on varied contracts including casual, collectives, and individual arrangements and within organisation policies and legislation. 

  • Supporting line Managers with their payroll responsibilities

  • Working with services to advertise, recruit and on-board potential staff.


This role is covered by the government’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate for the health and disabilities sector. This means that it is a requirement that this role is undertaken by a fully vaccinated person (or a person who holds a valid exemption issued by the Director-General of Health).


What you’ll bring to the role

They key part of this role is your experience in processing payroll functions of similar sized organisations. You’ll therefore bring a familiarity with all aspects of payroll systems and processes, in addition to:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of New Zealand employment and payroll related legislation including but not limited to, the Holiday’s Act, the Wages Protection Act and the Privacy Act;

  • The ability to accurately interpret terms and conditions in employment agreements and organisation policies

  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Familiarity and knowledge of accounting systems and practices

  • Ideally some background in NZ payroll processing or alike
