Kaihautū Whakahaumanu Mana Tāne (DTP Clinical Manager)

Te Oranganui is a health and social service provider based in Whanganui and offers a wide range of services including Vocation, Mental Health & Addictions, Disability Support, Whānau & Community Support and Primary Health and Medical to all people within the Whanganui and neighbouring regions.  

Te Oranganui is seeking an experienced Kaihautū/Manager to effectively lead our team of loyal and dedicated staff.

The key objectives of this role is:

  • To deliver an effective kaupapa Maori drug treatment programme (DTP) based in the Te Tirohanga Whare of the Whanganui Prison focused on helping participants make positive changes in their lives.

  • To effectively lead and support the team of registered and non-registered staff responsible for the delivery of the DTP.

The ideal applicant should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a clinical qualification and a relevant practicing certificate that meets requirements under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003;

  • A full member of DAPAANZ or working towards full membership;

  • Practical experience within the addictions sector - group and one-to-one;

  • Sound understanding of the legislative framework, standards and best practice methodology that apply to clinical management within the AOD and Corrections sector;

  • Excellent facilitation skills

  • Experience in leading and managing people;

  • Ability to manage and prioritise issues around competing demands

  • Ability to uphold the fundamental values of Tikanga Māori
