Te Oranganui is a health and social service provider based in Whanganui and offers a wide range of services to all people within the Whanganui and neighboring regions. Free services available include Mental Health & Addictions, Disability Support, Whānau & Community and Healthy Families. Te Oranganui Medical Centre and its associated services such as Tamariki Ora, Rural Community Nurse and the Quit Smoking clinic are also available.
Te Oranganui is leading out the Whānau Ora approach in the region. This approach works beyond treatment to sustained wellness for whānau, hapū, iwi and the wider community.
Te Oranganui is seeking a Kaitūruki - Youth Justice Coordinator in its Rangatahi team. The purpose of the role is to ensure that children and young people are in loving families and communities where they can be safe, strong, connected and able to flourish. The essence of restorative practices is disarmingly simple: that human beings are happier, more productive and more likely to make positive changes in their behaviour when those in positions of authority do things with them, rather than to them or for them.
The ideal applicant;
Will competently understand the Oranga Tamariki Act and how it relates to youth offending/processes.
Youth Development Degree (desirable)
Experience working with high and complex rangatahi and their whānau
Case management skills
Experience working in a bi-cultural environment
Experience in facilitation, mentoring and advocating for rangatahi youth
Experience in narrative theory and exploration
