Rangatahi Team Leader - Rangatahi Health & Wellbeing Initiative

Te Oranganui is an iwi led organisation that was established in 1993 to improve access and service delivery of health services to Māori in the Whanganui region.  Over time the roles and functions have grown and the organisation now delivers a range of health and social services throughout the region to Māori and non-Māori Whānau.  Te Oranganui is leading out the Whānau Ora approach in the region.  This approach works beyond treatment to sustained wellness for whānau, hapū , iwi and the wider community. 

Due to exciting developments Te Oranganui is establishing a new Rangatahi Health & Wellbeing Initiative.   The purpose of this team is to:

  • Build stronger communities and support better outcomes for Rangatahi Māori

  • Integrate a Mātauranga Māori way of working and engaging with Rangatahi Maori which utilises Te Taiao and other Matauranga Maori knowledge systems

  • Apply iwi-centric knowledge systems to a holistic way of working for Rangatahi Māori

  • Improve opportunities for Rangatahi to actively contribute to their learning and development

  • Increase access and opportunity for Rangatahi Māori to actively manage their health and wellbeing

 

We have a vacancy for a Team Leader for our Rangatahi Health & Wellbeing Initiative.   We are seeking a person who is a positive role model who wants to make a real difference with some of our vulnerable rangatahi and lead a team.  The ideal candidates are those who:

  • Have knowledge of Te Taiao and experience with working with the environment to gain positive outcomes for rangatahi 

  • Have knowledge of tikanga a nga iwi o Ngā Rauru, Nga Wairiki/Ngāti Apa & Te Atihaunui a Paparangi

  • Have the ability to be creative and to think outside the box

  • Experience in co-design and systems design in order to work alongside of rangatahi to find their solutions to their wellness.
