Te Oranganui is an iwi led organisation that was established in 1993 to improve access and service delivery of health services to Māori in the Whanganui region. Over time the roles and functions have grown and the organisation now delivers a range of health and social services throughout the region to Māori and non-Māori Whānau. Te Oranganui is leading out the Whānau Ora approach in the region. This approach works beyond treatment to sustained wellness for whānau, hapū , iwi and the wider community.
Suicide is a serious health issue, is devastating for those personally affected and each occurrence is a tragedy for our communities. Suicide prevention requires multi-level, multi-faceted, sustained commitment. Suicide is preventable, and there is still much more we can do to lower the suicide rate. Healthy Families Whanganui, Rangitīkei, Ruapehu is seeking a passionate and skilled person to take on the role of Project Manager – Suicide Prevention to complete a community designed Suicide Prevention Strategy and Action Plan. Experience within the health, community and/or social services sectors is a requirement, along with the ability to take community aspirations for mental health and wellbeing into robust, successful actions.
