Whanau Ora

 Our Whanau Ora program aims to support whanau to achieve their potential.  This practise is driven by whanau who know what they need.

Our kaimahi will work with you to help identify your needs and where appropriate help you to develop support plans.  We will work alongside you to help achieve your dreams and aspirations.
Whanau Ora takes a holistic approach to well-being, which means taking into account the overall well-being of the whanau.
The coverage area for the service includes the Whanganui River, Nga Rauru and Whanganui region. Whanau Ora cater for whanau, hapu and iwi from pepe to kaumatua. The service is free and the only cost will be time.

Whanau Ora strives to improve and enhance whanau well-being through the management of the following areas:
  • Oranga - Health
  • Matauranga - Education / Knowledge 
  • Whare Kopae - Housing
  • Whanaungatanga - Socialisation
  • Mahi - Employment
  • Wairuatanga - Beliefs
  • Te Ao Maori - Cultural

If you consider that you need assistance with any of the areas listed, come into Te Oranganui or ring and ask for a Whanau Ora Practitioner and discuss your needs with them in confidence.

Whanau Ora accept referrals from external agencies, this can be done by contacting a Whanau Ora Practitioner or writing to our service.
