Whānau Ora Workforce Development Programmes
23-11-2011 Te Oranganui provides a range of workforce development programmes to upskill and assist kaimahi working with whanau.

Whānau Ora Workforce Development Programmes are being held through Te Oranganui Iwi Health Authority to up skill frontline and client based kaimahi to work with whānau. Some of the skills gained through doing this include Whanaungatanga, Whakapapa, Facilitation, Assessment skills, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Loss & Grief, Structural Analysis and Quality Assurance.
Marie Aue, Whānau Ora Coordinator of Te Oranganui says it is really not a new thing, it is been around for a while but that she thinks it has been pushed aside for a more mainstream approach, which for a lot of our people has not worked. Marie adds that, providing for whānau encompasses every part of their being e.g. Hinengaro, ngākau, tinana and not just physical.
Professionally Marie has gained so much after doing the programme as it has changed the way she now approaches her mahi and the whānau she deals with on a daily basis. In her personal life it has also had a very positive effect and has helped put things into perspective for her and her whanau.
Whānau Ora Workforce Development Practitioner Programme.
Our first Whānau Ora Development programme is for the duration of one year. This will be held over five noho, which are each three days long. On completion of this programme you will receive a tohu for completing the Te Oranganui Best Practice Model. This tohu will be presented at the following Hui a Tau which is held for Te Oranganui employees and the public.
Whānau Ora Workforce Development Supervision Programme.
This programme is a follow on from the earlier Practitioner Programme and is inclusive in the year that the Practitioner Programme is run. On completion of this part of the programme a ‘Diploma’ for a License to Practice is gained and will also be presented at the next Hui a Tau. Not all kaimahi will receive this Diploma as it is aimed at the font line kaimahi.
Whānau Ora Workforce Development Mahi a Kaupapa Programme.
This programme is an advanced follow on from the Practitioner Programme and is currently held over three noho which are four days long. These noho dates and durations are still being developed so could change in the future. You do not have to have completed all of the above programmes to complete this part. At the following Hui a Tau you will receive a tohu for completing the Mahi a Kaupapa Programme. Only selected kaimahi will complete this programme and this is decided by the kaiako running the programme.
