Early Intervention
Family Start believes the first years of a child's life are important. This programme provides a home-based service that is family focused and child centered. It is sensitive to the needs and values of whanau, hapu and iwi. Kaituhauora (Key Workers) will give guidance to improve the health, welfare, education and general well-being of tamariki. They will assist families to set achievable goals, supply clients with the appropriate early childhood information and deliver the Born to Learn programme which enhances parenting skills.
The service is available to all ethnic groups and aims to give babies the best possible start in life. Referrals can be made through your Midwife, General Practitioner or Well Child provider.
