Medical Centre
Te Waipuna Health Centre is the primary medical service of Te Oranganui Iwi Health Authority Primary Health Organisation.
Located in central Whanganui, Te Waipuna aims to improve the overall wellbeing of whanau, hapu and iwi by providing accessible and affordable medical services.
The primary focus of Te Waipuna is on empowering clients to take responsibility for their own health by ensuring they are fully informed and given options of care that best suits their needs. Client fees are kept to a minimum with an emphasis on health and wellbeing as opposed to profit making.
We provide the following:
- Consultations with a Doctor or Nurse are by appointment, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm . Home Visits can also be booked with the Doctor or Nurse.
- Our Prescription line is a dedicated phone line to reorder your prescriptions. Prescription requests received before 12pm will be completed and ready for you to pick up at 4pm . All prescriptions are dependant on assessment of the G.P.
- Nursing Direct phone service- direct phone line to the Practice Nurse for enquiries on your health.
- After Hours - Urgent medical problems - after 5pm weekdays and on weekends or public holidays will be attended by A & M clinic, ph: (06) 348 8333.
- Immunisation - Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm .
- Diabetes and Well Health Clinic - Every Thursday 10am to 12 noon by appointment.
- Liquid Nitrogen Day - 1st Wednesday of the month by appointment.
- Specialised Nursing Services - Diabetes clinical education, disease state management (diabetes, cardiac and respiratory).
- Rural Health Service - The Rural Nurse provides a health service to clients living in rural isolated communities along the Whanganui River and Nga Rauru who can not get into the clinic.
- Sexual & Reproductive Health and HIV Aids Services - This service provides advice and education on Contraception, Reproductive & Sexual Health and HIV Aids to individuals.
